Grandmama a Slave

NARRATOR:
Choice.

BLACK WOMAN:
My grandmamma was a slave. I’m proud of her. She had nothing. Grandma gave us so much.

NARRATOR:
Some people defy description. Slave with dignity, poor yet rich.

BLACK WOMAN:
When I go through hard times, I walk tall like my grandmamma. She gave me a heritage.

NARRATOR:
Every person carries tradition into the future. We live by our memories, memories of persons with dignity, with values worth cherishing.
